Valentin Montanet of Domaine de la Cadette approaches Beaujolais Nouveau with the same integrity and terroir sensitivity that defines his Vézelay and Burgundy wines. The 2025 release comes from a single, old-vine parcel in Quincié-en-Beaujolais, farmed organically and fermented naturally. As Valentin puts it, “the grapes are healthy, beautiful, and delicious”—a true reflection of an exceptional vintage.
- WINEMAKER: Valentin Montanet
- FARMING: Organically farmed (not certified); all vineyard work is done by hand with low yields and natural soil management.
- VARIETY: 100% Gamay
- TERROIR: From a 0.75-hectare parcel situated opposite the western slope of Côte de Brouilly in Quincié-en-Beaujolais, at 382 meters elevation. The vines are 72 years old, rooted in sandy granite soils that produce bright, mineral, and aromatic Gamay.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in concrete tanks. No enzymes, fining, or filtration are used, and sulfur is kept to a minimum.
- AGING: Short aging in concrete preserves freshness and purity before early bottling for Nouveau release.
- TASTING NOTES: Fresh, vibrant, and fruit-forward, showing aromas of crushed raspberry, red currant, and violet. The palate bursts with juicy red fruit, a touch of spice, and a hint of granite minerality. Lively acidity keeps it refreshing from start to finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Chill it lightly and enjoy with charcuterie, roast chicken, soft cheeses, or Thanksgiving fare.
