Weiser-Künstler is the tiny, fiercely traditional domaine of Konstantin Weiser and Alexandra Künstler, working exclusively with steep, historic vineyards around the village of Enkirch in the Mosel. Farming is certified organic and entirely manual, and all wines are made with native yeasts, low intervention, and a focus on age-worthy precision. The Ellergrub is their flagship site—an amphitheater of blue slate and ungrafted vines yielding some of the most elegant and finely mineral Spätlese Rieslings in Germany.
-
WINEMAKERS: Konstantin Weiser & Alexandra Künstler
-
FARMING: Certified Organic; hand-harvested
-
VARIETY: 100% Riesling
-
TERROIR: The Enkircher Ellergrub vineyard is a steep, south-facing slope of pure blue slate above the Mosel River. Vines here are ungrafted and low-yielding, averaging over 70 years in age. The site's shallow soils and radiant exposure produce filigreed, intensely mineral wines.
-
VINIFICATION: Fermented slowly with native yeasts in traditional 1,000L Mosel Fuder barrels. Long, cool fermentation. No fining or additives.
-
AGING: Aged on fine lees in neutral wood; bottled with minimal sulfur
-
TASTING NOTES: Delicately sweet and nervy, with aromas of white peach, lime zest, and jasmine over smoky slate. The palate is crystalline and balanced, with electric acidity, subtle herbal lift, and a long, salty finish.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Pair with Vietnamese pork spring rolls, chilled soba with sesame, poached trout, or creamy young cheeses.
