Founded in Restigné in 1976 by Jean-Marc Pichet and now run by his son Thomas, Domaine du Petit Bondieu farms 21 hectares in the heart of the Bourgueil appellation. The estate has been certified organic since 2010 and does not add sulfur during vinification. The Terres Brunes cuvée, first released in 2011, is a traditional expression of Bourgueil.
- WINEMAKER: Thomas Pichet
- FARMING: Certified Organic
- VARIETY: Cabernet Franc (100%)
- TERROIR: Bourgueil, Loire Valley, France. Harvested from predominantly limestone terroirs, which give the wine length on the palate.
- AGING: Fifteen months in barrel.
- TASTING NOTES: Deep ruby. Complex bouquet dominated at first by elegant wood, toast and toasted notes. The palate is well balanced, with a structured tannic frame shaped by the limestone. With a few years of bottle age, the tannins soften and reveal red and black fruit. Built to age for several years.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Style-based: roast poultry, grilled or roast red meat, and aged hard cheeses.
