Patrick Baudouin, a renowned winemaker in the Anjou region of the Loire Valley, is celebrated for his dedication to organic viticulture and the expressive potential of Chenin Blanc. 'Le Clos des Bruandières' is a testament to his commitment to showcasing the unique terroirs of the Layon.
- WINEMAKER: Patrick Baudouin
- FARMING: Certified organic (Ecocert, 2005) and certified biodiverse (LPO); utilizes only copper-sulfur treatments and has employed horse plowing since 2019.
- VARIETY: 100% Chenin Blanc
- TERROIR: Located in Saint-Aubin de Luigné, the 1.5-hectare south-facing vineyard features shallow sandstone and schist-based soils over Carboniferous coal bedrock, contributing to the wine's distinctive minerality.
- VINIFICATION: Fermented with ambient yeasts and aged for 12 months in used barrels without added SO₂, followed by full malolactic fermentation. The wine is then blended and aged in tanks for a few additional months, with minimal SO₂ added before bottling.
- AGING: 12 months in used barrels, followed by additional aging in tanks.
- TASTING NOTES: This dry Chenin Blanc offers a harmonious balance between generosity and mineral tension, with notes of yellow fruits and a pronounced mineral character.
