-
WINEMAKER: Pierre Meurgey
-
FARMING: Sustainable (practicing organic)
-
VARIETY: 100% Pinot Noir
-
TERROIR: ‘Les Grands Epenots’ is located at the northern end of Pommard on deep clay-limestone soils with good drainage. This site benefits from excellent sun exposure and a slightly cooler microclimate due to its proximity to Volnay, lending a touch of finesse to Pommard’s typical power.
-
VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand-harvested, fully destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts in open vats with gentle punch-downs.
-
AGING: Aged for 14–16 months in French oak barrels (30% new) before bottling.
-
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of black cherry, violet, forest floor, and baking spice. The palate is structured and concentrated, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, mineral-laced finish.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Duck breast, coq au vin, wild mushroom dishes, or roasted root vegetables.
