From one of Beaujolais’ most revered traditionalists, Daniel Bouland’s Chiroubles ‘Chatenay’ captures the high-altitude elegance of the cru while retaining the depth and precision that define his wines. Known for his meticulous farming and minimal-intervention winemaking, Bouland crafts Gamay of striking purity, balancing fruit, structure, and minerality in perfect harmony.

- FARMING: Sustainable and low-intervention; old bush-trained vines are hand-tended and harvested without synthetic inputs.
- VARIETY: 100% Gamay Noir
- TERROIR: The ‘Chatenay’ vineyard sits on steep granitic slopes in Chiroubles at elevations around 400 meters, making it one of the highest and coolest crus in Beaujolais. The decomposed pink granite and sandy topsoils yield wines of exceptional delicacy and aromatic lift.
- VINIFICATION: Whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts in concrete vats following traditional semi-carbonic maceration. Pressed gently and bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur.
- AGING: Aged for 8–9 months in large, neutral oak foudres to preserve freshness and texture.
- TASTING NOTES: Fragrant and lively, with notes of red cherry, wild strawberry, and violet alongside hints of wet stone and subtle spice.
