Founded by German sommelier Thomas Teibert, Domaine de l’Horizon is located in the remote village of Calce in Roussillon, where ancient vines cling to wind-swept schist and limestone hillsides. Teibert’s work emphasizes biodiversity, biodynamics, and a deep respect for terroir. The wines—made with minimal intervention—have become cult favorites for their purity, energy, and sense of place. ‘L’Esprit de l’Horizon’ Blanc is a textured, mineral-driven white blend sourced from old vines and crafted with restraint.
-
WINEMAKER: Thomas Teibert
-
FARMING: Certified Biodynamic
-
VARIETY: Primarily Macabeu and Grenache Blanc, with small amounts of other local varieties
-
TERROIR: Old vines rooted in schist, limestone, and marl soils around the village of Calce in the Côtes Catalanes IGP. Low-yielding parcels influenced by Mediterranean winds and high elevations.
-
VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested fruit. Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and large oak vessels. No additives beyond minimal SO₂ at bottling.
-
AGING: Aged for several months on fine lees in a mix of stainless steel and large-format neutral oak barrels.
-
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of fennel, lemon peel, and white flowers open into a structured and savory palate with notes of pear skin, almond, wet stone, and herbal lift. A persistent saline finish reflects its mineral terroir.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Grilled sea bass, herbed roast chicken, goat cheese tart, Provençal vegetables.
