Domaine de Marquiliani 'Gris de Marquiliani' Rosé, Vin de Corse, Corsica, France 2025
The Amalric family has farmed Domaine de Marquiliani on Corsica's eastern coast since the 1950s. Daniel Amalric was a pioneer on this side of the island, the first to plant Niellucciu and Syrah in the area. In 1995, his daughter Anne — an agricultural chemist by training — returned from mainland France to take her place at the estate, working alongside her father and gradually taking the lead in both vineyard and cellar. The domaine sits in a secluded valley flanked by the sea on one side and forested mountains on the other, where warm, salt-laden maritime air meets cool mountain breezes — a microclimate of striking particularity that defines the estate's wines.
- WINEMAKER: Anne Amalric
- FARMING: Lutte raisonnée.
- VARIETY: 95% Sciaccarellu, 5% Syrah
- TERROIR: Vin de Corse, eastern Corsica. Estate vineyards in a coastal valley between the Mediterranean and the mountains. Schist and granite gravel with silt. Average vine age 20 years. 13% ABV.
- VINIFICATION: Fermented in stainless steel. Vin gris style: brief or no skin contact, producing a pale, near-white rosé with concentrated aromatic character.
- AGING: Stainless steel.
- TASTING NOTES: Deceptively pale in color with a wispy, translucent hue. Crisp and boldly flavored on the nose with salt, mountain scrub, flower petals, and citrus. The palate is refreshing and pure with bright acidity and a clean, saline finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Charcuterie, Brocciu, grilled fish, bouillabaisse, seafood pasta, herb-roasted chicken.
