Founded in 2005 by brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, Domaine Bachelet-Monnot has rapidly established itself as one of the Côte de Beaune's most compelling producers. Based in Dezize-lès-Maranges, the brothers oversee an enviable portfolio spanning Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, and prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru sites. Their wines exemplify precision, minerality, and finesse, earning praise from critics who place them among Burgundy's elite white wine producers.
- WINEMAKER: Marc and Alexandre Bachelet
- FARMING: Sustainable practices following organic principles without formal certification. The estate is described as très lutte raisonnée (very reasoned struggle). No herbicides are used; vineyards are manually ploughed with regular light aeration. Hand-harvesting at optimal ripeness with yields kept low through debudding.
- VARIETY: 100% Chardonnay
- TERROIR: Sourced primarily from Puligny-Montrachet (approximately two-thirds) and Chassagne-Montrachet (approximately one-third). The Bourgogne Côte d'Or appellation was established in 2017 as a geographical denomination within the regional Bourgogne appellation, limited to the 40 villages of Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Vineyards are situated on hillsides between 200-450 meters elevation with southeast exposure. Soils consist of limestone and chalk with ancient alluvium including clay scree, colluvium, and gravel.
- VINIFICATION: Long press cycle of approximately three hours to naturally select fine lees without excessive settling. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in 350-liter and 700-liter barrels (20% new oak). No débourbage (settling) or bâtonnage (lees stirring).
- AGING: 12 months in barrel followed by 6 months in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and finesse.
- TASTING NOTES: Mid-pale lemon hue. Clean aromas of lemon, pear, green apple, and white flowers with subtle mineral undertones. The palate is fresh, medium-bodied, and well-balanced with refined texture, bright acidity, and a long, harmonious finish showing touches of citrus and hazelnut. The wine displays remarkable purity and tension characteristic of its Puligny-Montrachet origins.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Fish in cream sauce, poached seafood, roasted chicken, veal, soft creamy cheeses, goat cheese, grilled vegetables.
