Domaine Génot-Boulanger, led by Guillaume Lavollée and Aude Lavollée, focuses on producing elegant, terroir-driven wines from across the Côte de Beaune. The 2021 Volnay Rouge reflects the estate’s commitment to organic farming and minimal intervention, crafting wines that express the unique qualities of their vineyards.
- WINEMAKER: Guillaume Lavollée and Aude Lavollée.
- FARMING: Organic practices, focusing on sustainability and preserving soil health.
- VARIETY: 100% Chardonnay
- TERROIR: The plot is 1.13 hectare in the middle of the slope, just north of the village. Nosroyes is just under the Puligny-Montrachet premier cru "Les Perrières." "Les Nosroyes" is French for walnuts. Walnut trees thrive in limestone soils and are sensitive to moisture, just like vines.
- VINIFICATION: Put directly in barrel for fermentation (with indigenous yeasts) and élevage. There is no stirring of the lees. After 12 months of aging, the whites are racked and transferred to tanks for an additional 6 months of aging.
- TASTING NOTES: "The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Nosroyes has a similar reduction to the Les Levrons, focused and perhaps even more concentrated. The palate is well-balanced with impressive depth. There’s not quite the mineralité of a Premier Cru, but ample concentration with a lively, spicy finish. Delicious." -Neal Martin
- CRITIC'S SCORES: 93 Points, Antonio Galloni
