Penna-Currado is a new project from Luca Currado and Elena Penna—formerly the powerhouse duo behind Vietti—now expressing their own vision for Piedmontese terroir. ‘Bricco Lago’ is their young-vine Nebbiolo cuvée from the Langhe hills, blending deep roots in tradition with a fresher, more approachable frame.
- WINEMAKER: Luca Currado
- FARMING: Organic (in conversion)
- VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo
- TERROIR: Sourced from estate vineyards in the Langhe region, primarily near Castiglione Falletto and Barbaresco zones. Soils are calcareous clay with limestone-rich marls, and altitudes range from 250–400 meters, contributing freshness and aromatic lift.
- VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested grapes are fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, with gentle pump-overs and extended maceration to extract fine tannins without excess weight.
- AGING: Aged in a combination of used large-format Slavonian oak casks and stainless steel to retain purity and structure.
- TASTING NOTES: Bright and lifted, with aromas of rose petal, sour cherry, raspberry, and sweet herbs. The palate is juicy and precise, with fine-grained tannins, high-toned acidity, and notes of blood orange and crushed stones. A fresh, vibrant take on young Nebbiolo.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Great with tajarin and ragu, grilled duck breast, truffled risotto, or aged goat cheese.
