Weingut Hans Wirsching is one of the leading producers in Franken, with a family legacy in Iphofen that dates back to the 17th century. Silvaner is the region’s flagship grape, and Wirsching’s expression is both rooted in tradition and precise in execution. This VDP.Gutswein bottling captures the stony minerality of the local Keuper soils and the understated elegance of dry Franconian white wine.
- WINEMAKER: Dr. Klaus-Peter Heigel
- FARMING: Sustainable
- VARIETY: 100% Silvaner
- TERROIR: Grown in the vineyards surrounding Iphofen in the Franken region of northern Bavaria. The soils here are primarily Keuper—colored marl with gypsum and clay elements—known for lending the wines a marked mineral backbone and savory depth.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are harvested manually, gently pressed, and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and purity of fruit.
- AGING: Aged on fine lees in stainless steel for several months to enhance mouthfeel and mid-palate weight while maintaining freshness.
- TASTING NOTES: Light yellow in the glass with a spicy, savory nose. The palate is dry, fresh, and earthy, showing subtle orchard fruit, herbs, and a fine line of minerality. Balanced acidity and a clean finish make this an ideal everyday white with texture and finesse.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Grilled fish tacos, sesame cucumber salad, tinned smoked trout with herbs, fried zucchini blossoms, or summer vegetable pasta
