La Cadalora Pinot Grigio, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT, Trentino, Italy 2023
“La Cadalora” means “home of the ora” in the local Trentino dialect, a reference to the warm south wind that sweeps across the region from Lake Garda. The Tomasi family has farmed here for generations, but it was in the early 1980s that brothers Rodolfo and Tiziano redefined the estate’s direction. With training at San Michele all’Adige and experience in France, Tuscany, Piedmont, and South Africa, Tiziano brought a philosophy focused on varietal clarity and authentic expression of Trentino’s terroir. Today, the family farms 10 hectares of vineyards near the banks of the Adige River, producing wines that are both precise and expressive of place.
- WINEMAKER: Rodolfo & Tiziano Tomasi
- FARMING: Sustainable
- VARIETY: 100% Pinot Grigio
- TERROIR: Vineyards on calcareous clay soils with southwest exposure; proximity to the Adige River provides cooling influences.
- VINIFICATION: Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 18–20 °C.
- AGING: Aged exclusively in stainless steel, then rested in bottle prior to release.
- TASTING NOTES: Crisp and refreshing, with aromas of pear, apple, and citrus layered with white flowers and subtle mineral notes. Bright acidity and clean fruit define the palate, with a dry, elegant finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Ideal with seafood risotto, grilled trout, fresh salads, or tinned sardines with lemon.
