The Sassetti family, with over a century of winemaking heritage in Montalcino, owns the esteemed "Podere Pertimali" estate. Situated on the Montosoli hill, north of Montalcino, this 16-hectare vineyard is renowned for producing exceptional Sangiovese wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.
- WINEMAKER: Lorenzo Sassetti
- FARMING: Practicing organic viticulture
- VARIETY: 100% Sangiovese Grosso (Brunello)
- TERROIR: The vineyards are located at the top of the Montosoli hills, north of Montalcino, an area renowned for Sangiovese cultivation. The soils are a combination of clay and limestone, providing optimal drainage and contributing to the wine's structure and minerality. Vines were planted between 1988 and 2001, trained using the spurred cordon system, with a planting density of 7,000 vines per hectare.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand-harvested in early October and gently pressed. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 82-84ºF, with a maceration period of 10 to 12 days to extract color, flavor, and tannins.
-
AGING: The wine is aged for 36 months in 3,000-liter Slavonian oak barrels, allowing for slow maturation and integration of flavors. After barrel aging, the wine undergoes an additional 6 months of bottle aging before release, ensuring harmony and complexity.
- TASTING NOTES: Deep silky red color with layered aromas of dark cherry, wild berry, and floral notes. The palate is smooth with elegant tannins and a long finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: This Brunello pairs excellently with rich dishes such as braised meats, truffle-infused pasta, and aged cheeses.
