Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has rapidly ascended to become one of Burgundy's most celebrated and sought-after producers. The eldest son of renowned winemaker Marc Colin, Pierre-Yves established his own domaine in 2005 alongside his wife Caroline Morey, daughter of Jean-Marc Morey—two historic Burgundian winemaking families united. Based in Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune, Pierre-Yves has earned international acclaim for his mineral-driven Chardonnays that set the standard for what is possible in this legendary region. His fastidious farming, incredible attention to detail, use of larger demi-muid barrels, and long élevage allow each wine to express a clear sense of terroir with remarkable purity and precision. Even his entry-level Bourgogne Blanc has caused a sensation—Jancis Robinson famously remarked: "It's not often that a winemaker's genius can be detected in a bottle of basic Bourgogne."

- FARMING: Sustainable viticulture with meticulous attention to soil health and vine balance. Soils are worked or grassed depending on slope steepness.
- VARIETY: 100% Chardonnay
- TERROIR: A carefully curated blend from the finest villages of the Côte de Beaune: 40% from Meursault, 30% from Saint-Aubin, 15% from Chassagne-Montrachet, and 15% from Puligny-Montrachet. The fruit comes predominantly from parcels below Chassagne-Montrachet, grown on classic Burgundian limestone soils that provide exceptional minerality and tension. The estate operates thirteen hectares across these prestigious appellations, with Chardonnay representing 92% of total production. These lower-elevation parcels benefit from the same limestone-rich terroir that defines Burgundy's greatest white wines.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are whole-bunch pressed slowly at higher-than-average pressure without crushing, extracting juice of great finesse while allowing natural phenolics to provide texture. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in barrel with no temperature control. No battonage is employed to preserve freshness and tension.
- AGING: Aged in 350-liter demi-muid barrels with 15-20% new wood. Pierre-Yves has exclusively used these larger barrels since 2007, as they provide more energy and freshness while limiting oak influence, allowing terroir expression to shine through. Extended élevage on fine lees without stirring. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, sealed with long untreated corks and soft wax to protect against premature oxidation.
- TASTING NOTES: Despite its humble appellation, this Bourgogne Blanc punches well above its weight class. The 2023 displays a pale, clean, clear color. The nose is fresh and chiseled with lifted lemon and lime aspects, green apple, and characteristic PYCM reduction showing hints of struck match and flint. On the palate, the wine reveals exceptional weight and intensity for a regional Bourgogne, with concentrated white fruit, subtle tropical notes, and pronounced minerality. Bright acidity provides structure and focus, while the buttery mouthfeel and mineral backbone speak to the wine's pedigree. Good length with the signature Colin-Morey style of tension, precision, and purity. Around 12.5-13% alcohol. Drink from 2026-2028, though it will age beautifully for a decade or more.
