This wine is a modern nod to history. Aged in large vessels sealed with reeds, ingrained with the wisdom of the past. This pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon evolves with each sip and gracefully unfolds on the palate. A slightly bashful beginning leads to an exuberant end. Having just one glass will require some serious restraint. From young vineyard sites used for Heitz Cellars, Burgess, and Ink Grade.
- Winemaker: Brittany Sherwood
- Farming: CCOF Organic
- Varieties: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
- Terroir: 81% Rutherford, 13% Howell Mountain, 6% St. Helena
- Aging: 10 months in large neutral oak upright tanks.
- Scores: 90 Points, Wine Advocate. “The 2019 Coopers Reed Cabernet Sauvignon includes fruit from young vines and high-vigor sites in St Helena, Rutherford and Calistoga. Its 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% Napa Valley, not always the case for wines in this price range. Its minty, herbal and dusty, with cherries and tobacco joining in. Medium to full-bodied, its bright, fresh and taut, with a crisp, slightly greenish edge to the long, racy finish. A lighter, more quaffable style of Cabernet Sauvignon, it will be interesting to see how it is accepted by the market.” — Joe Czerwinski, May 2022
