One of Barolo’s most historic estates, Oddero has been bottling Barolo since the 19th century and farming organically long before certification. Today, the winery is led by Mariacristina Oddero and her daughter Isabella, continuing a legacy rooted in tradition and terroir. Their rare Riserva from the famed Vignarionda cru in Serralunga d’Alba is only produced in exceptional vintages and reflects the profound depth and age-worthiness of this historic site.
WINEMAKER: Mariacristina Oddero and Pietro Vigliarolo
FARMING: Certified Organic (since 2018)
VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo (Michet and Lampia clones)
TERROIR: Vignarionda is a south-facing amphitheater at 330 meters elevation in Serralunga d’Alba. Soils are composed of compact limestone and marl from the Lequio Formation. The site is renowned for producing powerful, structured Barolo with great aging potential.
VINIFICATION: Fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks with 25–30 days maceration on the skins. Daily pumpovers and temperature control during active fermentation.
AGING: Aged for 42 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by 24 months in bottle before release.
TASTING NOTES: Dense and layered, offering aromas of dark cherry, rose petal, tobacco, iron, and forest floor. The palate is structured and regal, with firm but refined tannins, vibrant acidity, and a lingering finish of dried herbs, spice, and crushed rock.
FOOD PAIRINGS: Braised short ribs, truffle risotto, porcini tagliatelle, or aged Parmigiano-Reggiano.
