This rare bottling of Roter Riesling—a red-skinned mutation of white Riesling—was rescued from near extinction by the Eymael family at Weingut Pfeffingen. The project began with a single vine discovered in the 1980s and was officially approved in 2018 after decades of propagation and experimentation. ‘Terra Rosetta’ is now planted on the estate’s red clay soils in the Ungsteiner Herrenberg vineyard and produced using a natural, skin-fermented approach that results in a structured, textural white with herbal complexity and grip.

- VARIETY: 100% Roter Riesling (Roter Riesling is not a cross between Riesling and another red grape. Instead, it's a spontaneous mutation of white Riesling where the grape skins have developed red pigmentation (anthocyanins).
- TERROIR: Grown on Terra Rossa (iron-rich red clay) soils in the Ungsteiner Herrenberg vineyard near Bad Dürkheim in the Pfalz. The vineyard benefits from warm summer conditions and excellent drainage, yielding ripe, concentrated grapes with natural acidity.
- VINIFICATION: The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented on their skins for just under two weeks before pressing. Fermentation occurred naturally without added yeast. The wine was aged in older, small-format oak barrels with regular lees stirring. It remained unsulfured and unfiltered until bottling.
- AGING: Aged in older small oak barrels on lees, with bâtonnage for several weeks. No sulfur added and bottled unfiltered.
- TASTING NOTES: Deep golden hue with aromas of wild herbs, Campari, and subtle citrus rind. The palate is full-bodied yet lifted, with fresh acidity, gentle tannic grip, and a long, savory finish. Distinctively aromatic and textured.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Charred fennel with romesco, grilled halloumi with pomegranate, tinned mackerel with chili oil over white beans, or duck confit with orange glaze.
