Fekete Pince, nestled on the southern slopes of Hungary's Somló Mountain, is renowned for producing distinctive white wines that reflect the unique volcanic terroir. The 'fkt' series represents the winery's innovative approach, offering fresh expressions of traditional varietals.
- WINEMAKER: Gábor Fekete
- FARMING: Organic certification in progress
- VARIETY: 100% Olaszrizling
-
TERROIR: Somló's vineyards are characterized by basalt and ancient seabed soils, contributing to the wine's mineral complexity. The cool continental climate further enhances the grape's acidity and freshness.
-
VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested in mid-November, the grapes were direct-pressed and fermented spontaneously. The wine aged for six months in used 1,000L and 500L oak barrels, followed by three months in tank, resulting in an exceptionally dry expression of Somló Olaszrizling.
- AGING: 6 months in used oak barrels, 3 months in tank
-
TASTING NOTES: Aromas of citrus and dried herbs lead to flavors of sweet peach, complemented by a spicy finish. The long finish reflects both the varietal character and Somló's minerality.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs well with quiche Lorraine, roasted asparagus, or salmon. Also complements spicy dishes like Pad Thai. Cheese pairings include Brie, Emmental, or Gruyere
