La Marea, crafted by winemaker Ian Brand, focuses on single-vineyard Spanish varietals, highlighting the unique terroirs of Monterey and San Benito counties.
- WINEMAKER: Ian Brand
- FARMING: Sustainable practices
- VARIETY: 100% Albariño
- TERROIR: Kristy Vineyard, located near Monterey Bay, benefits from the cool ocean influence, allowing Albariño grapes to achieve full phenolic ripeness at lower potential alcohol levels while maintaining bright natural acidity.
- VINIFICATION: The grapes were 2/3 whole-cluster pressed and 1/3 destemmed, with the destemmed portion undergoing a two-day skin contact to extract flavor. Fermentation occurred at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit purity, minerality, and freshness.
- AGING: Aged in stainless steel to maintain vibrancy and crispness.
- TASTING NOTES: Aromas of white nectarine and honeysuckle lead to a palate with bright acidity, featuring underripe pineapple and stone fruit flavors that persist and blend with wet river rock on the finish.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Ideal with octopus, fish & chips, a bowl of mussels, or Dungeness Crab
