One of the most historic producers in Franconia, Hans Wirsching has been making wine in Iphofen since the 17th century, with a strong focus on Silvaner—Germany’s unsung hero. The family estate is known for its dry, mineral-driven wines that reflect the distinctive Keuper soils of the region. ‘Iphöfer Kalb’ is a single-vineyard bottling that shows the precision and quiet intensity Silvaner is capable of when grown on this ancient terroir. Currently, the estate is managed by Andrea Wirsching, Heinrich's daughter, who represents the 14th generation of the family to oversee the winery.

- TERROIR: Iphöfer Kalb is a south-facing vineyard on gypsum-rich Keuper soils, located in the Franken wine region; the cool continental climate and soil composition contribute to the wine's clarity, tension, and salinity
- VINIFICATION: Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel with cultured yeast to preserve varietal character and precision
- AGING: Aged on fine lees in stainless steel for enhanced mouthfeel and aromatic purity
- TASTING NOTES: Subtle aromas of white peach, fresh herbs, and sea spray, with a palate that is dry, stony, and focused. Notes of green apple, lime zest, and a touch of white pepper carry through a long, mineral finish.
