Château de Caraguilhes 'Cara' Corbières Rosé, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2025
Château de Caraguilhes has Cistercian origins, tracing back to the nearby Abbaye de Fontfroide, and sits on the Boutenac terroir near Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse — one of the oldest estates in Corbières. Lionel Faivre began the estate's organic conversion in 1987, well ahead of the movement, and Pierre Gabison has continued that legacy since taking ownership in 2005, working alongside technical director Étienne Besancenot, who has developed the estate's biodynamic program since 2016. Cara is the estate's signature rosé, drawn from the "Pâtres" plots and built entirely around Grenache in its three colors.
WINEMAKER: Étienne Besancenot (technical director), under proprietor Pierre Gabison
FARMING: Certified Organic (Ecocert) since 1987; certified Biodynamic (Demeter) since 2021
VARIETY: Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris, and Grenache Blanc
TERROIR: Corbières AOC, from the "Pâtres" terroir in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, on clay-limestone soils with rolled pebbles (galets roulés).
