Les Mouettes d'Arvor is the premium label of Conserverie Gonidec, a family cannery founded in 1959 and now run by husband-and-wife team Jacques and Valérie Gonidec — the last cannery in Concarneau still using traditional production methods. Each year, their "Ville Bleue" vintage sardine tin becomes a canvas for a different Breton artist; the 2024 edition features an original oil painting by Concarneau-based painter Michel Barzic, blending Celtic art influences with a surrealist touch. Like all vintage sardines, this tin is meant to be cellared: the fish continue to develop in flavor and texture with age.
