Viña La Joda 'Mejor Ser Que Parecer' Cabernet Franc Pet-Nat, Aconcagua Valley, Chile 2025
Vino La Joda is the project of winemakers Jorge Carrancá and Daniela Meruvia, who met while working in Colchagua before founding their own estate in the Aconcagua Valley in 2016. Based in the Cajón de San Francisco de Los Andes, high in the cordillera, they farm and vinify with minimal intervention, working a tight 20-kilometer radius around the winery and partnering closely with a network of small growers to encourage low-intervention, natural viticulture across the valley. 'Mejor Ser Que Parecer' is their playful, unfiltered pet-nat line, made in a range of varieties for easy, festive drinking.
- WINEMAKER: Jorge Carrancá and Daniela Meruvia.
- FARMING: Organic Practicing. Cabernet Franc fruit is sourced from a grower-farmed vineyard that La Joda does not own; the estate has worked closely with this and other growers to convert their farming to organic practices
- VARIETY: 100% Cabernet Franc.
- TERROIR: Fruit comes from the Aconcagua Valley DO, sourced from a grower vineyard within the estate's local network of small producers in the Andean foothills.
- VINIFICATION: Made using the méthode ancestrale (pet-nat): hand-harvested grapes are pressed and fermented with native yeast at low temperatures. The must is bottled while alcoholic fermentation is still underway, completing fermentation inside the bottle and retaining natural carbonation.
- AGING: No vessel aging; the wine develops entirely through in-bottle fermentation, unfiltered and left sur lie.
- TASTING NOTES: Really pretty red fruit character, in keeping with the light, bright, unfiltered style of the house pet-nat line
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Casual, warm-weather fare — suited to poolside or outdoor gatherings; light bites, charcuterie, or simply on its own well-chilled.
