Following in the footsteps of his father Jean Foillard—one of the original “Gang of Four”—Alex Foillard has quickly earned a reputation for crafting pure, energetic Gamay from organically farmed vineyards across Beaujolais. His wines channel the same soulful minimalism and granite precision that made his father’s Morgons and Fleurie iconic, but with a youthful brightness all his own.
- WINEMAKER: Alex Foillard
- FARMING: Organic (uncertified); hand-harvested fruit from sustainably farmed vines with no synthetic inputs.
- VARIETY: 100% Gamay Noir
- TERROIR: Sourced from high-quality Beaujolais-Villages parcels on granitic and schist soils near the border of Morgon and Brouilly. These well-drained, rocky slopes yield perfumed and supple wines that bridge the finesse of the northern crus with the generosity of the south.
- VINIFICATION: Traditional semi-carbonic maceration using whole clusters and native yeasts, followed by aging in used Burgundian barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal sulfur.
- AGING: Aged 6–8 months in neutral oak to preserve freshness and emphasize texture.
- TASTING NOTES: Bursting with red cherry, raspberry, and fresh herbs, the 2024 Beaujolais-Villages shows vibrant fruit purity balanced by fine tannins and a stony backbone. The palate is supple yet energetic, with a lingering finish of wild strawberry and crushed granite.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Chill slightly and serve with roast chicken, charcuterie, or lentil salad.
- ALCOHOL: ~12.5%
