Jean-Paul Thévenet—one of the legendary “Gang of Four” who revived Beaujolais through traditional, organic farming and natural winemaking—continues to inspire alongside his son, Charly. Together they farm some of the oldest vines in Morgon, producing soulful Gamay that captures both the depth and grace of this iconic cru.
- WINEMAKER: Jean-Paul & Charly Thévenet
- FARMING: Certified organic; old vines averaging over 80 years, farmed without chemical fertilizers or herbicides and harvested by hand.
- VARIETY: 100% Gamay Noir
- TERROIR: From ancient, low-yielding bush vines in Morgon’s Charmes climat, grown on decomposed pink granite and schist. This terroir gives concentration and a distinct mineral edge, balancing richness with freshness.
- VINIFICATION: Traditional whole-cluster semi-carbonic maceration using native yeasts in concrete vats. After gentle pressing, the wine undergoes a long, natural malolactic fermentation and is bottled without fining or filtration, with minimal sulfur added at bottling.
- AGING: Aged 8–9 months in neutral Burgundy barrels to round tannins and highlight purity of fruit.
- TASTING NOTES: Perfumed with wild cherry, raspberry, and crushed rose, layered with hints of pepper and wet stone. The palate is supple and concentrated, showing velvety tannins and mouthwatering acidity with a long, mineral finish. Structured yet elegant, this is a Morgon that will age beautifully.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Excellent with duck breast, coq au vin, or lentil stew with herbs. Serve slightly chilled to emphasize freshness.
- ALCOHOL: ~13%
