Jolie-Laide, led by winemaker Scott Schultz, is celebrated for crafting minimal-intervention wines that highlight unique varietals and exceptional vineyard sites.
- WINEMAKER: Scott Schultz
- FARMING: Practicing organic; dry-farmed vines
- VARIETY: 38% Valdigue, 33% Mourvèdre, 17% Grenache, and a blend of "others" like Cinsault/Cabernet Pfeffer/Franc/Syrah etc!
- TERROIR: Sourced from select vineyards across California, including regions in Sonoma and the Central Coast, the 'Glou d'Etat' benefits from the diversity of California's varied climates. The grapes are grown in a range of soils, from volcanic to loamy, each contributing its unique character to the wine. The warm days and cool nights of the region help the grapes develop rich flavors while maintaining vibrant acidity.
- VINIFICATION/AGING: Carbonic maceration lifts aromatics in that delicious “Nouveau” style putting purity and fruit in the forefront. Whole clusters are sealed into tanks in a CO2 environment forcing the enzymatic process of intercellular fermentation. Then eventually the fruit is foot crushed and finished whole cluster for a short amount of time producing a wine that is gushing with fruit, lower in tannin and delicious to drink young and slightly chilled!
-
TASTING NOTES: Tart cranberry, summer cherry, dried flowers, garrigue,
and earth tones, brimming with acidity and lithe tannins. - FOOD PAIRINGS: This versatile red blend pairs beautifully with grilled meats, burgers, roasted vegetables, or pizza. It also complements a variety of cheeses, such as Manchego or young gouda.
