Founded on deep generational roots, Famiglia Mosso traces its winemaking heritage back to 1860, when Francisco Mosso immigrated from Italy to Mendoza. After nearly a century of Malbec production, the family revived their legacy in 2002. Today, brothers Ernesto and Pablo Mosso oversee the estate’s 18-acre vineyard in Lunlunta, where they live and work among the same vines planted by their ancestors.
-
WINEMAKER: Ernesto Mosso & Pablo Mosso
-
FARMING: Sustainable
-
VARIETY: 100% Malbec
-
TERROIR: Lunlunta is a sub-region of Luján de Cuyo, known for its traditional Malbec plantings on alluvial soils with river rock and sandy loam; elevation around 900 meters provides warm days and cool nights, supporting aromatic complexity and freshness.
-
VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested fruit; fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts; minimal intervention to preserve varietal purity.
-
AGING: Aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak barrels for several months to balance freshness and structure.
-
TASTING NOTES: Deep ruby with aromas of ripe black plum, violet, dark cherry, and subtle spice. The palate is juicy and smooth, with medium body, soft tannins, and a lifted finish marked by red fruit and a hint of earth.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Empanadas, grilled steak, lentil stew, or roasted eggplant.
