Étienne Gaudry’s estate, located in the hamlet of Les Loges within Pouilly-Fumé, has established a reputation for bright, terroir-conscious Sauvignon Blancs that favor minerality and tension over overt ripeness.
- WINEMAKER: Étienne Gaudry
- FARMING: Vines are tended with care, favoring low yields. Gaudry practices sustainability and pays strict attention to canopy management to promote even ripening and avoid disease pressure.
- VARIETY: 100 % Sauvignon Blanc
- TERROIR: Les Porcheronnes is a small, clay-limestone parcel on the hilltop of Les Loges. The cuvée draws from multiple hillside sites within the zone, notably “La Côte” and “Les Griottes,” on soils rich in clay and limestone. RWM Selections+1
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand harvested and gently pressed. Fermentation is conducted with native yeasts in stainless steel. The wine sees lees contact to build texture and complexity, with minimal sulfur additions and no heavy manipulation.
- AGING: The wine remains on its lees in stainless steel prior to early bottling, designed to maintain freshness, clarity, and minerality.
- TASTING NOTES: This 2023 release showcases bright citrus zest (lemon, lime) and white peach aromas, with flinty and stony mineral undertones. The palate is slender yet persistent, with electric acidity, subtle salinity, and a crystalline finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Excellent with oysters, shellfish, grilled sea bass, goat cheese, or simply as a refreshing aperitif.
