Poderi Colla, a historic estate in Piedmont, is renowned for its traditional winemaking approach, producing elegant and age-worthy Nebbiolo wines. The 'Dardi Le Rose' vineyard, located within the esteemed Bussia cru, yields Barolo of exceptional complexity and harmony.
- WINEMAKERS: Tino and Pietro Colla
- FARMING: Sustainable practices
- VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo
- TERROIR: The 'Dardi Le Rose' vineyard is situated on the Bussia hill in Monforte d'Alba, at an elevation of 300 to 350 meters with south to southwest exposure. The soils are rich in calcareous marl, providing an ideal environment for Nebbiolo.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are destemmed and gently pressed, followed by maceration on the skins for approximately 15 days. Fermentation is carried out using indigenous yeasts, and malolactic fermentation occurs naturally.
- AGING: The wine matures in large Slavonian and French oak casks for 24 to 28 months, allowing for gradual development and integration of flavors.
- TASTING NOTES: Aromas of fresh red fruits, dried figs, and spices lead to a complex palate featuring bright redcurrant, herbal nuances, and a distinct mineral character. The fine tannic structure and balanced acidity suggest excellent aging potential.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs beautifully with veal chops, buttery egg pasta with shaved black truffle, and rich fish dishes like roast turbot.
- SCORES: Jancis Robinson: 17/20 (Fragrant, lifted dark earth and cherry with bags of spice and a hint of tar. Supple yet still a little embryonic on the palate and with a thick layer of polished tannins. Very long and elegant as well as complex.)
